George Clooney is interested in the Smothers Brothers

George Clooney will produce a film on the Smothers Brothers.

Smokehouse and Sony Pictures, the production company of George Clooney and Grant Heslov, preparing a biopic on the Smothers Brothers.

The companies acquired the rights to the book Dangerous Funny: The Uncensored Story of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour by David Bianculli. 

Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman will write the screenplay.

Tom and Dick Smothers were the radical figures in the 60’s. They enlivened the satirical show The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour , receiving not only the larger ones, like The Beatles, The Who and The Doors, but also disturbing the White House with their skits political nature. President Nixon had even called the “enemies of the nation.”

In 1969, CBS decided to dismiss the Smothers Brothers after two years on the air.

Deadline mentions that Clooney is related to the project as a producer at the moment. He probably realizes and even plays a leading role as well.
