Together with British talented actor Jude Law (played as Dr. John Watson), Robert Downey Jr. grossed $1 billion success for both Guy Ritchie’s directed film ‘Sherlock Holmes’ (2009) and ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ (2011), as reported by NME.

Robert Downey Jr. also revealed that the material for ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ would be very new as the development staffs were seeking through Doyle’s 1931 book series, as reported by E! News. It seems that Guy Ritchie aimed to get another grossing success for this detective film series.
What Robert Downey Jr. stated about ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ was in line with what Jude Law said back in 2013, according to E! News. In September 2013, the 41-year-old British actor told Empire tabloid that the distributor company Warner Bros wanted the third franchise film being processed. However, Law said that it seemed that the improvement would be slow for the cast and film crews were very busy at that time, as reported by NME. Later, the cast of ‘Anna Karenina’ revealed that ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ script was being written as the crew and cast would be involved in the film production had met earlier in 2013.
